A President's Welcome

Hi Loves!!

My name is Trinity Orosco, and I am the Fall 2026 President of Texas Sweethearts. I joined Sweethearts my freshman spring semester, and I couldn’t be more honored to serve in this position.

Here’s a little about me: I’m a senior journalism major with a minor in health communication from Arlington, TX. In high school, I was heavily involved in extracurriculars and grew up surrounded by the same circle of amazing friends. When I started at UT, I was nervous about finding my group of people and a place where I truly belonged. After some light Instagram stalking of student organizations, I came across TXSH, and a spark ignited.

During freshman orientation, I spoke with the Sweethearts tabling at the student organization fair and immediately clicked with the girls. When I came to campus that fall, I recruited for Sweethearts and a few other organizations, but ultimately applied only to Sweethearts. However, that wasn’t my time, and I didn’t get in that fall. Though I was disappointed, I knew how much I loved this organization and decided to recruit again in the spring.

Coming back to recruitment, I was a little hesitant, but as soon as I walked into the first info session, many actives remembered me and welcomed me back with open arms. I got in that semester and became a Spring ’24 Sweetie (S/O my Sweetie class!) and later had the honor of serving as Fall ’25 Spirit Co-Chair and Spring ’26 Secretary before taking on the role of President. It’s been a crazy journey that I’m incredibly grateful for.

Last fall, I remember covering ACL for the newspaper, sitting in the press tent with my Sweethearts pin on my backpack. I was nervous, as everyone around me was a seasoned journalist and I was still in college. A photographer sitting next to me saw my Sweethearts pin and gasped. She told me that she was a Spring ’15 Sweetie and reflected on her memories in the organization, explaining that she was still close with many of the girls. We had the most comforting and in-depth conversation about women in the journalism field, and she put my nerves at ease.

That moment perfectly captures what makes Sweethearts so special. This organization has given me so much. It has helped me grow into the person I am today while surrounding me with phenomenal, driven women. I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and in due time. Though I was saddened by the outcome the first time I applied, I can’t imagine not being in my Sweetie class or meeting my best friends during both fall and spring recruitment. I also adore being able to share my journey with other second-time recruits.

Texas Sweethearts is hands down one of the best things UT has given me. From movie nights with my closest friends (Hi Glen Powell Fan Club!!) to late-night yappathons with my littles, Nat and Shreya, and my big, Erin (ADORE my Sugar & Spice Fam), I’ve not only formed lifelong friendships and a deep-rooted sisterhood, but I’ve found the women who will be my future bridesmaids and the aunties to my children.

My advice to you, my wonderful and brave recruit, is to be unapologetically you. Have fun, meet new people, and trust the process. Spirit organizations are supposed to feel like a second home to you — a comfort community where you can truly be yourself. So, be yourself and know that WE get the privilege of getting to know YOU! Talk with actives, but also talk with your fellow recruits. You could be bonding with your future best friends or roommates without even realizing it. Some of the most meaningful friendships can come from the people standing beside you during recruitment.

This is an exciting and new journey for you, and whatever the outcome, know that you are amazing and courageous. UT has a funny way of allowing people to find their community, and I am immensely thankful to get to be a part of that process in any shape or form.
